By God’s mercy, I have the gift of intercessory prayer. This means I can pray for someone or something, add fasting, praises to God, singing, witnessing about God’s miracles to others, plus combine my gift of faith and very often see exactly what I ask come to pass. I am not trying to sound boastful or bragging. It doesn’t work for the lottery. It must be true need, not greed.
I start early in the day reading the Bible or Psalms, reciting formal prayers or listening to a tape recording of prayers, meditate upon the good things God has given me, thank Him for them, sing to Him (He doesn’t care what it sounds like!), encourage others when I get the chance, do good for others (He loves that part. He wrote about it.), believe that He loves me and really cares about what I care about and what I need and my family needs, and wait in faith for the answer to come. Sometimes I feel like I am hounding Him for answers. As humans, we don’t like to ask. God is big on asking. He likes the humility part active in our spirit. Ask for the needs of others you don’t know, and help to come for them as well.
“The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” This means “The effectual (effective), fervent (continuous, without ceasing, enthusiastic) prayer of a righteous (a person trying to do right and not lie, steal, cheat & betray others), man (mankind, also means women, it is understood) availeth (an advantage towards the attainment of a goal), much, (It counts for a lot.)
This means any man or woman, who is trying to live right in the eyes of God, prays continuously without ceasing using enthusiasm, joy, faith, singing, fasting or whatever means, has an advantage with God in making that prayer effective and the answer to come, often in what appears to be a miracle. Without ceasing does not mean all day, every minute. It means when it pops into your mind, then at that moment is the time to pray again about it. Every time it comes to mind, pray for that particular need. You will be amazed at the difference in prayers answered. It is all up to you.
As you begin to see one miracle happen after another and another, you must know that your prayer “fire power,” your ability to get answers from God by seeking Him through “intercessory” prayer, plus your trying to live right before God, is making these things come to pass for you.
The New Age world calls this “manifesting,” but it is the same as the old time faith of our grandmother. We remember her saying, “I just know God is going to give me a new roof. I believe Him for it.” A few weeks later, somehow, out of nowhere, the money just shows up to pay the exact cost of that new roof. She decided what she needed; witnessed in faith aloud, claiming her desire and expressing belief that God would supply it. He did. This is not New Age. This is old fashioned believing in God, prayer, faith and deliverance through miracles.
Use your prayer time to make your spiritual “fire power” as effective as possible. Live in honor and truth. Pray in faith, expecting your miracles and watch them materialize. As you perfect your “fire power”, you are building the gift of “intercessory prayer” in your spiritual life. You never know just when you may desperately need to see an emergency miracle for yourself or someone else.
One thing you must not neglect is to pray for yourself. If you do not pray for yourself, who else is going to? Our kids? Our love? Life is busy and people are stressed. Asking God for our own needs is no different than a hungry child asking an earthly father for food. We have different needs as adults and God expects us to come to Him for them. It is His joy to bless us with those “desires of our heart” as the Bible tells us.
