Jesus Street Art
This cement sculpture placed under a bridge beneath I-45 freeway has been painted by a local street artist in the Deep Elm artsy/eclectic area of downtown Dallas for all to enjoy as they walk or drive by.
Street artists show up and paint suddenly, overnight or over a weekend, just for the joy of it, to transform the world through their art. Jesus and the rainbow radiate love in a surprisingly unexpected place for all to enjoy.
The City of Dallas has completed the setting offering a few moments of meditation by installing red (Feng Shui color for Fame, Future and Recognition) metal seating for those that choose to sit down and rest momentarily, and ponder a spiritual experience.
Although this concrete and asphalt median could be simply a walk-through or a drive by on the way to the arts and entertainment of the offbeat Deep Elm, it actually “lifts our spirits,” reminding us that there is an ever-present Holy Power “keeping watch over us.” Just for an instant, there is a “refreshment of peace” in the urban jungle of steel and concrete, under a major freeway overhead where thousands of vehicles travel daily. The heat, noise and chaos are momentarily “suspended” by a Holy experience. This is a classic example of Feng Shui “lifting” us out of our lives and “transporting” our emotions far away from our actual location, by visual art.
I applaud the “visions” of the Street artists that leave their art for us all to share.
