Dolphins Sea Art Mural Painted by Wyland

This downtown Dallas dolphin art mural is painted by the famous artist of the sea Wyland, in 1999 on the Texas Utility Building. Wyland was commissioned to do this fabulously refreshing mural by Hershel Walker formerly of the Dallas Cowboys. Hershel’s generosity has created a “moment” for all of us to enjoy.

Driving through downtown traffic, you look up and see this view of the sea and the dolphins jumping for joy and all of a sudden you are sharing that moment and are transported magically from your car to the sea. You actually “feel” like you are there.

The power of art to transport us from being in the “routine moment” to taking us to a place far, far, away, is pure Feng Shui. You can “feel” the experience near the water, even though you are miles from it. You can almost “smell” the sea. The experience of “enjoying” the playfulness of gentle dolphins enthusiastically having fun invites you in.
All of this is happening to us, as the billowy while clouds atop the mural seem to be “floating” overhead.

The swirling colors of the blue green sea brings a “peaceful” settling over our emotions as the Element of Water gently “flows all around us”, even though it is simply paint exquisitely covering a busy downtown old building. What a genius Wyland is! He has conceived a vision that “calms,” and brings a “joy into our soul” and all we have to do is drive by, or stop at the traffic light and gaze upon the incredible art of Wyland.

Thank you Wyland and Hershel.Walker sharing this wonderful, exciting moment in time with us all.
